Paste one key and it is live
The plugin asks for the WordPress plugin key from Configuration → Widget. Paste the whole embed code instead if that is what you copied: the plugin keeps the key and discards the rest, so no pasted code is ever stored in your site.

Every page, only the pages you tick, or every page except them. Your home page is on the list whether it is a page of its own or your latest posts.
It tells you when Harkbell refuses your site
Saving a key checks it with Harkbell straight away, and Check connection runs the same test again. If your Allowed domains list leaves this site out, the plugin names the address to add, rather than leaving you with a button that never appears.
The same button as the snippet
It loads the same script the one-line snippet does, asynchronously and in the footer, so your button text and colour, the panel that follows your theme, and keyboard and screen reader support all come with it.
Quiet until you switch it on
Nothing loads and nothing is sent to Harkbell until a key is saved. It adds no tracking and no credit link, and never loads in wp-admin.
Turning it on
- Download the plugin from the top of this page.
- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin, press Upload Plugin, choose the zip, and activate it.
- In Harkbell, copy the WordPress plugin key from Configuration → Widget.
- In WordPress, open Settings → Harkbell, paste the key, and save.
- If your Allowed domains list in Harkbell is not empty, add your site's domain to it and republish.
What this actually takes
- A WordPress site on version 6.3 or later, running PHP 7.4 or later, where you can install plugins. On WordPress.com, that means a plan that allows plugins.
- A Harkbell account with a published agent, on any plan, the free one included.
- A visitor willing to grant microphone permission — their browser asks, not us.

What it will never do
- Store or print the code you paste. Only the key is kept.
- Load anything, or contact Harkbell, before you save a key.
- Add a credit link or a “powered by” line to your site.
- Track your visitors or follow them around your site. It is a button that starts a call.
Questions people ask about this one
Where do I get the plugin?
From this page. It is a standard WordPress plugin zip: upload it under Plugins → Add New Plugin, and WordPress installs it like any other plugin.
I already pasted the snippet into my theme. Do I need the plugin?
No, but do not run both: two copies put two buttons on the page. If you switch to the plugin, remove the snippet from your theme or header-and-footer plugin first.
The button does not appear. What now?
Open Settings → Harkbell in WordPress and press Check connection; it says what is wrong. The usual cause is Allowed domains: add your site's address under Configuration → Widget in Harkbell, save, and republish. A caching or speed plugin that delays or combines scripts can also hold it back, so exclude harkbell-widget.js from those settings.
Can it show on some pages only?
Yes: only the pages you tick, or every page except them. Developers can also decide per request with the harkbell_widget_enabled filter.
Will it slow my site down?
It loads asynchronously in the footer, after your content, and draws in its own shadow root, so it cannot block your page or inherit your CSS.
