What it does
Paste one script tag and it is live
Copy it from the dashboard into your site's footer. It renders inside its own shadow root, so it cannot break your styling and your styling cannot break it — which is the failure mode of most embedded widgets and the reason people rip them out again.
They talk instead of typing
No app, no number to dial, no form demanding an email before it will help. They press the button and ask the question they actually had — and they can interrupt mid-sentence the way they would a person, because it listens while it talks.
It looks like your site
Your button text and colour, and a panel that follows the host page's light or dark theme. On a phone it opens as a sheet rather than a cramped desktop panel wedged into a corner.
Reachable by keyboard and screen reader
Because a widget that only works with a mouse excludes exactly the visitors most likely to prefer talking to typing.
It costs nothing to run
This is the channel on the free plan, with real answered minutes every month — enough to put it on your site, show the team, and find out whether it is any good before you pay anything.
Turning it on
- Add your services, prices and hours during setup.
- Copy the one-line snippet from Configuration → Widget.
- Paste it into your site's footer, anywhere before the closing body tag.
- If you have filled in Allowed domains under Configuration → Widget, add your site's domain there and republish.
- Reload your site and press the button.
What this actually takes
- The free plan.
- Somewhere to paste one line of HTML. If you can edit your footer, you can do this — and on WordPress, a plugin does it for you.
- A visitor willing to grant microphone permission — their browser asks, not us.
the part nobody else prints
What it will never do
- Track your visitors or follow them around your site. It is a button that starts a call.
- Work without a microphone. A visitor who declines is told plainly rather than left pressing a dead button.
- Replace your phone line by itself. The website and a real number are separate things.
Questions people ask about this one
Will it slow my site down?
It loads after your page and renders in an isolated shadow root, so it does not block your content or inherit your CSS. Nothing about your page changes until somebody presses the button.
Is there a WordPress plugin?
Yes. Install it, paste your key, and choose the pages — no theme files to edit. The WordPress page has the download and the steps.
Does it work on Wix?
On a paid Wix plan with your own domain connected, which is what Wix requires before it runs custom code. In your Wix dashboard, open Settings → Custom Code, add the snippet, choose Body - end and All pages, and publish. Wix's free HTML embed element puts code in a box on the page, where the button cannot float and the browser may refuse it the microphone.
Does it work on Squarespace?
On the Core, Plus and Advanced plans, which are the ones with code injection. Open Pages → Website Tools → Code Injection, paste the snippet into Footer, and save.
Does it work on Webflow?
With a paid Site plan, or a Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer Workspace. Open Site settings → Custom code, paste the snippet into Footer code, save, and publish the site.
Does it work on Shopify?
Yes, pasted into your theme. Duplicate your live theme first, then open Online Store → Themes, choose Edit code, and paste the snippet just before the closing body tag in theme.liquid. A theme update can drop it, so check after updating.
Does it work on GoDaddy's website builder?
Not as a floating button. GoDaddy's builder runs custom code inside a framed box on a single page, so the button cannot float over your site and the browser is likely to refuse it the microphone. Put your Harkbell phone number on the site instead.
The button does not appear. What now?
If your Allowed domains list under Configuration → Widget is not empty, your site's domain has to be on it: add it, save, and republish. Make sure the snippet is on the page only once. And if a caching or speed plugin delays or combines scripts, exclude harkbell-widget.js from it.
What if a visitor will not give microphone access?
They are told plainly what the button needs, rather than pressing something that silently does nothing.
